Lena Khan Comes Back (Sort Of) For More

Lena Khan has posted a reply of sorts to my earlier blog article "Lena Khan is a source for the Muslim Brotherhood"—but she didn't post it here on my blog. She posted to another blog that had reposted my article. 

I'm not sure why she didn't want to confront me directly, and only wanted to talk about me to someone else, but to be entirely fair to her, I'm going to post her response here, and reply to it, point-by-point. Her post is indented and in italics:

Everyone has the freedom for their views, but it is unfortunate that people just go off of information without checking it. Thus far, I have found dozens of supposed statements from Islam that Vijay Kumar has cited, which are not from Muslim sources and Muslims deem to be fabricated.

I've been hearing this same kind of dodge for decades. It elicits a yawn. Note that she admits that I have cited my statements, and though she claims to have found "dozens" that are somehow flawed, she doesn't cite a single one. I don't wonder why.

Further, the thing I can speak on most in this article is the lies therein. I have never received any money from MAS, and I challenge Mr. Kumar to prove it.

The problem, Ms. Khan, is that I never once said you received money from MAS. The word "money" never once appears anywhere in my article. I said, accurately and correctly—as you admit below—that you received funding from MAS. There is a distinct difference between "money" and "funding," recognized in every dictionary and in the law. If you don't know the difference, that's your problem, not mine. I suggest you look up the difference before you start making accusations like the following: 

Instead, he has just made up lies, and has no information to prove it.

Publicly impugning my integrity with reckless disregard for the truth or falsity of your statements is an adventurous thing to do, Ms. Khan.

I could provide even all my bank accounts for the past few years, and he would find nothing from MAS. In fact, MAS once gave me a check, which I returned and never cashed.

Thank you for confessing that you accepted a check from MAS, which is a form of funding, exactly as defined by Black's Law Dictionary: "A sum of money or other liquid assets set apart for a specific purpose." Whether you cashed it or not is immaterial. A check is a draft, an order to the bank, an "unconditional promise to pay." What you did or didn't do with it doesn't alter the fact that you accepted a form of funding from MAS—exactly as I wrote that you did.

In fact, it's not entirely unusual in "seeding" a project to get an agreed source of funding solely as a selling point to entice more funding—then to return the base amount once it's served its purpose. It's still funding.

You can pretend all the "arms length" purity from MAS you want to pretend by the fact of not having cashed their check, but I don't think anyone reading this is stupid or naive enough to believe that any organization like MAS—which is a non-profit corporation organized under section 501(c)(3) of the United States tax code—just spontaneously writes a check to someone with whom they have no relationship or common interest. And you accepted the check, didn't you.

Freedom of speech is a principle here, but we are also a nation of honor, where we don't just take lies as truth and at least have the good sense to form our opinions off of accurate information.

Good. You've given the accurate information: you had a relationship with MAS in which they wrote you a check, and you accepted their check. But it goes even deeper than that, doesn't it?

I wonder why you don't mention that an Associate Producer on one of your films, "A Land Called Paradise," was Murad Aldin Amayreh. Is it because Amayreh himself helped set up the MAS Media Foundation (MMF) between 2006 and 2008? That's right on his own bio page.

If Vijay did his research he would also know that I did not ever work for MAS, and the fact that MAS has one of my films listed on their pages was incorrect since I did not take their money.

If you had done your research you'd know that the MAS Media Foundation—which your friend Amayreh helped establish—has not one, but two of your films on its "Videos" page, under the heading, "MMF GRANT VIDEOS." Here's a screen shot that proves it:



So here's the problem now as I see it: you've just accused the MAS Media Foundation—a division of the 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation called the Muslim American Society—of grant fraud, since they are publicly promoting two of your films as having been funded by MMF grants, and you insist that your films weren't funded by them. That's an ugly allegation to make against your friends, Ms. Khan. Have you reported this to IRS?

This article is libel, and yet people spread it around like fact.

Are you talking about your article?

One with decency, after knowing that these claims were not substantiated, would either substantiate them themselves or have the courtesy to take them down.

I just substantiated my claims completely. Now you can demonstrate your courtesy by apologizing for calling me a liar.

This sort of honor and dignity is what is American, not spreading falsehoods.

Thanks for the civics lesson.

Now that you're done lecturing us all on "honor and dignity," would you care to comment on your friend Murad Aldin Amayreh's "friends" pages, which include links to "Jews Exposed" (a.k.a. Israel has no right to exist), glorifications of Hamas and Hitler and Hezbollah, and a page that labels America and Israel as "terrorists"?

Do you agree with those sentiments, Ms. Khan?

The Facts the Tennessean Suppressed

The article below was sent on Tuesday morning, August 17th, to Dwight Lewis—an editor at the Tennessean—in response to the Tennessean's publication on August 16th of an article by Lena Khan called "Islam is a source of inspiration, learning."

On Thursday, August 19th, I had heard nothing from Mr. Lewis, so I contacted him by phone, and he claimed he had never received the article—even though it had been sent to the same email address I had used to contact him numerous times before. I therefore re-sent the article—to the same email address—and he confirmed his receipt of it. He said he would "consider" publishing it. The time limit for a publishing a timely response to Ms. Khan's article has come and gone. He suppressed the article, which contains crucial information about Ms.Khan's connections that the Tennessean also suppressed when they published her article.

Lena Khan is a source for the Muslim Brotherhood

When the Tennessean published Lena Khan's warm and fuzzy “hug-a-Muslim” article on Monday called "Islam is a source of inspiration, learning,"  they simply said about the author: “Lena Khan of Nashville is a writer and director for Ecmo Films.”


They didn't mention that Ms. Khan had received funding from and worked for the Muslim American Society (MAS), the U.S. arm of the Muslim Brotherhood, whose goal is the “introduction of the Islamic Shari'ah as the basis controlling the affairs of state and society.” If you don't know what that means, it means that they exist to overthrow the Constitution and the government of the United States and to replace it with a totalitarian Islamic theocracy.


In the infamous Holy Land Foundation case, one internal document spelled out the true strategy behind Ms. Khan's benefactors using people like her to spread a benign and friendly message: “The Ikhwan [Muslim Brotherhood] must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and 'sabotaging' its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God's religion [Islam] is made victorious over all other religions.”


As the Islamic authority Syed Abul A'ala Maududi put it: “Islam wishes to destroy all states and governments anywhere on the face of the earth which are opposed to the ideology and program of Islam regardless of the country or the nation which rules it. The purpose of Islam is to set up a State on the basis of its own ideology and program.”


Richard Clark, who was the National Security Council's chief counter-terrorism advisor under both Clinton and Bush, has said that “the common link” between the most violent and active terrorist organizations, such as Hamas, al Queda, and Islamic Jihad, is Ms. Khan's source of funding. “All of these organizations are descendants of the membership and ideology of the Muslim Brothers,” he said.


That's quite a “source of inspiration”—and source of funding—for Ms. Khan to wax so gushingly over, while telling us how sweet and innocent she and other Muslims really, really are.


Of course, in the time-honored Islamic tradition of taqiyya (lying to infidels), MAS does everything it can to conceal its true origins and purposes, and to put on a happy face—like Ms. Khan's. MAS was created when members of the Brotherhood, many of them supporters of Hamas, met at a Days Inn near the Alabama-Tennessee border during the early 1990s and agreed to call themselves the Muslim American Society. They further agreed “not to refer to themselves as the Brotherhood,” according to the Chicago Tribune, while keeping the same goals of overthrowing the American government.


One of the requirements of becoming an “active member” of Ms. Khan's benefactor, MAS, is to study the works of one of the Brotherhood's most revered authoritarians and martyrs, Syed Qutb. Some of Qutb's quotes of note:


“All Westerners are the same: a rotten conscience, a false civilization. How I hate these Westerners, how I despise all of them without exception.”


“A Muslim has no nationality except his belief.”


“There is only one law which ought to be followed, and that is the Shari'ah.”


Ah: now there is some of Ms. Khan's inspirational “learning.” Qutb's books are sold in the Muslim mosques that Ms. Khan assures us are “against extremism.” It warms the heart, doesn't it?

What We Accomplished, What It Cost

Dear Friends,

While I lost my bid for the 5th District seat in Congress, the campaign—and your support of it—made waves of truth and purpose that still are propagating around the world and will stay in motion forever.

Over sixty articles were published, and many of them have been republished on hundreds of web sites and in print publications all around the world.

The awareness of the threats of Universal Jihad and Sharia law has increased exponentially nationwide, and especially here in middle Tennessee, with citizens, media, and politicians alike. Politicians I developed valuable relationships with have taken their own courageous stances on these critical issues, and some of them have already won their primaries. All of them will continue to be influential activists.

The billboards and the radio and TV ads I aired have galvanized many individuals and groups in our area. Tennessee is emerging as one of the foremost battleground states against Universal Jihad in all its guises and forms.

These are no small accomplishments. When I look back on where things stood when I began my campaign earlier this year, I am amazed at how far we have come—but I also never lose sight of how far there is yet to go. I already am in conference with a number of individuals and groups to create projects that I believe will have every bit as much impact as the campaign itself, and, ultimately, much more.

Although I was severely hampered in my campaigning and fundraising efforts by the untimely automobile accident, donations came in to the campaign from states all around the nation, not just from Tennessee, and approximately $40,000 was raised.

The costs of all the promotion and advertising ran to nearly $50,000, so I have $10,000 in debt from the campaign. While I took on this responsibility myself, I would be very grateful for any contributions now, while the campaign administration and finances are being wrapped up, that could help me shoulder this burden.

To My Many Friends on Campaign End—A New Beginning

Dear Friends,

I’m writing to express my deep and abiding gratitude to each and every one of you for your inspiration, encouragement, and support during my campaign for Congress. Although I did not win the Republican nomination, the messages you helped me get out to the public are still echoing around the world and helping to wake more and more people up to the magnitude of the threats we face.

The campaign has had quite an effect locally, too. Other politicians in this area have begun to speak out openly, and legislative initiatives have been begun to proof our republic against the barbaric totalitarianism of Sharia law.

Many of you contributed what you could financially to the campaign. Every penny was worth a fortune in knowledge and information shared with the world.

Many of you contributed your activism in helping to spread the word. You are modern day Paul Reveres—and now is no time to climb down from your horse!

Many of you contributed with messages of encouragement. These were the winds in the sails of the campaign, without which it could not have moved forward at all, and I am eternally grateful. 

Without your contributions, activism, and encouragement, I could not have accomplished a fraction of what has been accomplished. Your vision and understanding have added significantly to a juggernaut that is building internationally against Universal Jihad, and I am humbly grateful.

I want to assure you that the end of my political campaign is just the beginning of a new phase of activism. I already have plans for the future that I will keep you apprised of as they develop. If there is anything at all I can do for you, please don’t hesitate to call on me.

Reply to a Disgruntled Republican

My dear friend Rod Williams, who blogs by the name "Disgruntled Republican," sent me an email today notifying me that he had posted the following to his blog yesterday, and asking me if I would care to respond:

Why is Vijay Kumar Breaking the Law?

Vijay Kumar has not yet filed a campaign financial disclosure report. He has advertising in the Tennessean. He has billboards. He has radio advertisements and television advertising. I would be surprised if he has spent less than $20,000. Who knows? Maybe he has spent $100,000.

I called the Federal Election Commission today to make sure that the that the FEC had not simply failed to post the summary of his report on their website. I talked to a nice man named Chris. No, Vijay Kumar has not filed the required report.

Even if a candidate self-finances his campaign he is still required to file a report. Had it not been for Jeff Hartline's filing a report, he could have avoided the controversy about paying himself a salary. David Hall could have avoided controversy about accepting corporate contributions if he had not had to file.

Who is financing Vijay Kumar's campaign? Where did the money come from and how was it spent. We have a right to know. I am contemplating filing a formal complaint with the Federal Election Commission.

Vijay, please explain. Why have you not filed a report? Who is financing your campaign?

Goodness. I had no idea there was so much suspicion and mystery abounding out there. Maybe it's because of the revelations Rod alludes to that came to light with some other candidates. I hate to disappoint a good mystery, but I'm afraid my explanation is much more mundane. I just wrote back to Rod:

Dear Rod,

Thank you for your inquiry. I have been in touch with the appropriate authority on this matter, which is the FEC person responsible for Tennessee, who has been understanding about extenuating circumstances—as I thought you might be. I was in an automobile accident and have been under treatment and in physical therapy for about six weeks, which has severely curtailed my originally planned campaign activities, has required a medical leave of absence from work, and has caused me considerable hardship.

There has been nothing remotely willful about my difficulty in keeping current, not only in relation to the campaign, but in my own business and personal matters as well. I do not have a staff. It all has been compounded by my Treasurer having to be out of town for a period of time, and my own lack of knowledge of procedure to get anything done about the filing in his absence. All of it together has been a source of considerable stress, and I have been working non-stop to catch up every minute I can.

My Treasurer is back and our filing is taking place within a few days, as I have discussed with the FEC. In the meantime, there is no deep mystery about my campaign financial status, which you'll see when we perfect the filing. As I told Jeff Hartline publically on my blog a week or two ago, I raised a total of about $35,000.00, and contributed about $7,000.00 in addition to that from my family savings, for a total of about $42,000.00. I have had no corporate contributions at all.

Because of my appreciation for all you do, and for your friendship, wisdom, and energetic industry in working to keep all candidates on a level playing field, I will be happy to deliver a copy of my filing to you personally if you like.

The Muslim Mosque: A State Within a State

   THE MUSLIM MOSQUE: A STATE WITHIN A STATE

The Kaaba in Mecca was not built as an Islamic mosque. It was an ancient temple that had been shared by polytheists, Christians, Jews, and Hindus, honoring 360 different deities. In 630 A.D. the Kaaba was captured by Islam in its military invasion and conquest of Mecca.


On the day of its capture, Muhammad delivered an address at the Kaaba in military dress and helmet, according to Ayatullah Ja’far Subhani in his book, “The Message”:


“Bear in mind that every claim of privilege, whether that of blood or property is abolished . . . I reject all claims relating to life and property and all imaginary honors of the past, and declare them to be baseless . . . A Muslim is the brother of another Muslim and all the Muslims are brothers of one another and constitute one hand as against the non-Muslims. The blood of every one of them is equal to that of others and even the smallest among them can make a promise on behalf of others.” —Muhammad


Muhammad’s address at the Kaaba overthrew the Meccan government and declared all of Islam, anywhere in the world, to be a political and military state against all non-Muslims, regardless of the non-Muslims’ political, geographical, or national origins.


“If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah), never will it be accepted of him.” —Quran 3:85


Although the rightful owners of the Kaaba are the many religions that shared it before the Islamic military conquest of Mecca, according to Subhani the Kaaba today is under the control of a hereditary regime going back to Muhammad: “currently the 12th Imam from the direct descent of the Prophet of Islam is the real protector, its custodian and guardian.”


All Islamic mosques everywhere in the world are required to have a clear visible indication pointing in the direction of Mecca and the Kaaba, where the international political and military state of Islam was founded. In most mosques there is a niche in the wall—the mihrab—that points toward the seat of Islamic power. Each mosque, like the Kaaba, is governed by an Imam in compliance with the political documents of Islam.


Mosques and the Political Documents of Islam


The Quran is the supreme political document of Islam—its political manifesto and political constitution. It is the only constitution of the nation-state Saudi Arabia, which is the home of Mecca and the Kaaba, where all mosques point, and is the birthplace of Islam.


The Quran is a totalitarian constitution. It demands submission by anyone within its jurisdiction. The Quran governs all mosques everywhere in the world.


As a political document, the Quran asserts that everyone in the world is within its jurisdiction. So far, Islam has not been able to enforce that totalitarian claim on the entire world, but has managed to do so through threat, infiltration, violence, terrorism, and coercion on roughly 20% of the world. It is engaged in a 1400-year-long Universal Jihad to dominate the rest of the world. All mosques are its outpost headquarters.


Central to the Quran’s political mandates is prohibition of religious freedom and religious tolerance, along with denouncements of religions such as Christianity and Judaism.

 

“O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them.” —Quran 5:51


“Fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war)” —Quran 9:5


All mosque leaders must be loyal to and supportive of these political and militaristic mandates. 


The Quran as a political document also forbids separation of church and state. That is why every Islamic nation, where Islamic leaders have managed to gain power, is a theocracy, ruled by the Quran and Islamic Sharia law.


The Hadith (reported sayings and acts of Muhammad) and the Sira (the official biographies of Muhammad) are the other political documents that, along with the Quran, constitute the basis for Islam’s Sharia law.


“There is only one law which ought to be followed, and that is the Sharia.” —Syed Qutb


Sharia law is administered by Islamic Imams who interpret the law and hand down rulings in their sole discretion. Sharia law does not allow trial by jury. Sharia law also mandates a double standard of laws for Muslims (believers) and infidels (non-believers). Sharia law mandates a discriminatory tax, called jizya, on non-Islamic religions and nations:


“Fight those who believe not in Allah...until they pay the jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.” —Quran 9:29


Sharia law also mandates discrimination toward women, and forbids any criticism of Islam or its founder, stifling freedom of speech.


Sharia law also mandates that all men are slaves with no right to freedom of religion:


“Allah’s right on His slaves is that they should worship Him (Alone) and should not worship any besides Him.” —Muhammad Sahih Bukhari 4:52:108, Narrated Mu’adh


Sharia law does not allow for separation of church and state. Sharia regards church and state as one inseparable entity governing every aspect of individual and social life, both spiritual and secular. That is why all Islamic nations are theocracies.


In short, Sharia law stands in direct opposition to the American Constitution and Bill of Rights. The implementation of Sharia law demands the overthrow of the American Constitution and our form of government and system of laws. Mosque leaders, in every nation in the world, are loyal to the Quran, the Hadith, the Sira, and consider them divine law, and therefore supreme over all manmade laws. 


Other political and military documents of Islam include treaties of Muhammad, which are held in reverence by Islam as models of conduct in relations between nations.


“Ye have indeed in the Messenger of Allah [Muhammad] a beautiful pattern (of conduct) for anyone whose hope is in Allah.” —Quran 33:21


“War is deceit.” —Muhammad Sahih Bukhari 4:52:268, Narrated Abu Hurarira 


In one treaty proposal, to Jaifer and Abd, Muhammad wrote:


“If you two accept Islam, your country will, as usual, remain with you. But if you refuse or object, it is a perishable thing.” —Muhammad


In another, to the Chiefs of Aqaba, he wrote:


“It is better for you either to accept Islam or agree to pay Jizya and consent to remain obedient to Allah . . . If you do not accept these terms . . . I shall have to wage war (to bring peace and security).” —Muhammad


These same patterns and political mandates have been used over and over by Muslims since 610 A.D. to invade and conquer many civilizations and nations throughout the world, and to eradicate human rights and freedoms in those lands. Iran once was called Persia and was Zoroastrian. Egypt was Christian. What was once a Hindu civilization was conquered and made into Pakistan, which is now part of the Axis of Jihad, along with Iran and Saudi Arabia. Afghanistan was Buddhist for thousands of years. Now its chief exports are heroin and Islamic terrorism.


“When We decide to destroy a population, We (first) send a definite order to those among them who are given the good things of this life and yet transgress; so that the word is proved true against them: then (it is) We destroy them utterly.” —Quran 17:16


In every instance where Islam has conquered and “destroyed utterly” a nation or civilization, the key to the conquest was the establishment of mosques, which are political and military command and control centers for Islam, and which all point toward the seat of Islamic power: the Kaaba.


Mosques and the Fallacy of the “Moderate Muslim”


The majority of Germans during World War II were not active members of the Nazi party, were not waging war, and were not involved in the holocaust. The leaders, though, were active members of the Nazi party, were waging war, and were involved in the holocaust.


The majority of Russians and eastern Europeans under the rule of the U.S.S.R. were not trying to spread Communism throughout the world, and were not threatening and waging war and revolution, but were going about their daily lives trying to survive. The leaders, though, were doing everything they could to spread Communism throughout the world, and were threatening and waging war and revolution.


Throughout history, since 610 A.D., the leaders of Islam have been waging Universal Jihad around the world for the purpose of Islamic totalitarian domination of the world. It has never mattered what percentage of the Muslim population was “peaceful” or “moderate.” Peace and moderation are not relevant to the totalitarian mandates of Islam’s political documents, and Islam’s leaders always follow the totalitarian mandates of Universal Jihad contained in them.


There are post-Nazi democracies. There are post-Communist democracies. There are no post-Islamic democracies. Literal Islam, as contained in its political documents, is the consummate totalitarianism. Neither Nazism or Communism had a metaphysical factor, as does Islam. Islam uses its metaphysics as a wedge to drive in its totalitarian political doctrines.


Once Islam has established itself sufficiently in any nation, it seeks to overthrow any existing regime or constitution or law, and replace it with Islamic theocracy. Even the most “moderate” Muslim is bound to obey Islamic law, and so is bound to fight if ordered to fight:


“When you are called (by the Muslim ruler) for fighting, go forth immediately.” —Hadith Sahih Bukhari 4:52:79:Narrated Ibn ‘Abbas


All Islamic mosques have Islamic leaders (rulers) who can call Muslims for fighting, and as such are satellite headquarters for spreading Literal Islam’s political doctrine of world domination and totalitarianism—no matter how many “moderate Muslims” they serve.


Mosques and the Worldwide Islamic State


Islam is a de facto political state wherever it exists anywhere in the world. The Quran is its constitution. The Kaaba is its seat of power, still in the control of the regime that occupied it in 630 A.D. All Muslims in the world, regardless of nationality, are required to travel to the Kaaba at least once in their lifetime and pay homage to it.


The fact that nations and international political institutions in the world do not recognize Islam as a de jure state is irrelevant. Muhammad himself declared it as a state, and Islam’s own political documents declare it to be a state, and, ipso facto, it always is a state-within-a-state, governed by the Quran and Sharia law internally, anywhere that it has not yet gained full power and control.


“The Believers are but a single brotherhood.” —Quran 49:10


“A Muslim has no nationality except his belief.” —Syed Qutb


“Islam wishes to destroy all states and governments anywhere on the face of the earth which are opposed to the ideology and program of Islam regardless of the country or the nation which rules it. Just as our Constitution of the United States binds and identifies us as a single political and legal union of non-contiguous states, territories, political groups, and people, so the Quran binds and identifies all Islamic nations and all Muslims as a single political and legal union of non-contiguous nations, territories, political groups and people, regardless of geographic boundaries, whose seat of power is the occupied Kaaba. All Islamic Imams, in every mosque everywhere in the world, are bound to the Quran as supreme law.


As we have seen, Islamic law gives Islamic Imams the power to order Muslims to fighting. The German Max Weber, who had considerable influence on international law and politics, defined “state” as that entity that has a “monopoly on the legitimate use of physical force within a given territory.”


Islam declares that the Quran and Sharia law are divine, and, as such, are the only “legitimate” law in the world. In that way, Islam “self-legitimizes” its right to use physical force anywhere in the world, and the right of every Imam in every mosque in the world to call for physical force and violence at any time. This makes every Imam in every mosque a military leader.


Islam is a state by every definition and theory, and is a state hostile to and at war with the United States of America and its Constitution.


Mosques and Treason and Sedition Against the U.S.


Islam’s political documents and law call for the overthrow of our Constitution and our man-made laws, and therefore for the overthrow of our government, which by definition constitutes sedition and treason. “Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies, of Allah and your enemies, and others besides, whom ye may not know, but whom Allah doth know.” —Quran 8:60


The Quran, as the constitution of Islam and Muslims, is diametrically opposite to the United States Constitution and Bill of Rights. According to Islam and Muslims, the Quran is divine law, uncorrupted and incorruptible, whereas the United States Constitution is man-made and is not infallible, and therefore is corrupt. The U.S. Constitution is the antithesis of the Quran; therefore Muslims have no obligation to obey it.


A mosque in the United States is a command and control center of a foreign political and military state that seeks the overthrow of our government, and an Imam in a mosque is a political and military representative of a foreign state that calls for the overthrow of the United States.


The laws of the United States provide specific criminal penalties for sedition and treason. These laws are not only applicable to those advocating and calling for the overthrow of our Constitution and our government; they are applicable to anyone who gives “aid or comfort” to such declared enemies of the United States, or who “organizes or helps or attempts to organize any society, group, or assembly of persons” so engaged. The terms “organizes” and “organize” extend to “the recruiting of new members, the forming of new units, and the regrouping or expansion of existing clubs, classes, and other units of such society, group, or assembly of persons.”


Mosques are just such units.

The Supreme Court

The Supreme Court is vested with the highest trust in the land: to preserve the Constitution, from which all their powers derive. They, too, are servants of the People, and their duty of "good Behavior" is to see that the spirit of the Constitution is forever upheld—not to twist its words to suit a political agenda.

Jeff Hartline contacted me to express his disappointment about my earlier blog post, Jeff Hartline: Do the Honorable Thing. Here is our first exchange, from yesterday, Sunday, July 18:

The information I had was from the Hartline campaign’s FEC filing, so I didn’t think it was likely to have been incorrect, but I always am happy to extend the benefit of the doubt, so I wrote back:

Hi Jeff,

I'm sorry if you feel that any information I have is incorrect or was misunderstood. If that's the case, I will of course be happy to immediately print a correction of any information you send me verifiable documentation of.

I appreciate your offer of a phone call, but I think it best if we keep our correspondence in writing. I'll look forward to receiving whatever information you'd like to send me.

Today Jeff contacted me, in an email message titled “Request for Apology,” and enclosed the additional information he had said he would be sending. What he sent me was a press release. I’ll respond here. Jeff wrote:

Attached are the facts that you decided not to wait for before you published your hit-piece on me.

Jeff, first, I’m genuinely very sorry to hear that you felt my blog post was a “hit-piece.” I merely expressed my own opinions about the salary you chose to pay yourself from campaign contributions.

The press release you enclosed is an interesting analysis of the $27,000 you say you’ve paid yourself over the last six months, but in my original blog post I was talking only about the  $21,794.95 of it that you had paid yourself in the 2nd quarter—April, May, and June—as reflected in your own FEC filing. 

And here is the way your salary breaks down from those three months according to the FEC filing:

As I understand it, the monthly average of your salary for the 2nd quarter was $7,264.98, or an annual average of $87,179.80. That alone is more than many working couples make.

Obviously, the monthly average for the last two months of the quarter—May and June—is $8,717.98. That’s an annual average of $104,615.76. That’s what I posted in my earlier blog article. If I somehow still have this wrong, please send me the correct facts, and I will hasten to post them.

As I said previously, I am disappointed that you did not call or email me to confirm this information prior to saying these things.

Then please accept my full and unqualified apology for not calling or emailing you to confirm the information. I assumed that your filing with the FEC would be accurate and correct and that I could rely on it without further confirmation.

Perhaps you should spend more time campaigning rather than meeting with the "Hate Jeff" alliance and formulating plans to sink me.

I’m distressed that you think there is a “Hate Jeff” alliance. If there is, I’ve never heard of it. If I did, I wouldn’t have either the time or the interest in participating.

I don’t hate you at all. I don’t know where you got any such idea. In fact, when some troll named “Kimberly Kay” started posting things about your law suits in Facebook, I defended you and deleted her posts. Maybe you missed that.

If you’ll indulge me for just a moment, I’ll tell you more specifically why I couldn’t possibly generate the interest or the time to “hate” you. I lived in Iran in 1979 when Islamic imperialism ripped that nation to shreds, overthrew its secular government, and implemented a vicious, totalitarian theocracy that right now, today, threatens the existence of the entire world with a nuclear program.

I have been fighting against Islamic imperialism ever since. I’ve had close friends die fighting against this existential threat to every liberal democracy on this earth—including our own United States.

As a result, everywhere I go, and even on my Facebook pages, and my blog, and in the comments on my many articles posted around the world, I have supporters telling me repeatedly, “Vijay, watch your back.” “Vijay, you be careful.” “Vijay, take care of yourself and your family. These people will do anything.”

This isn’t some imaginary “hate Vijay” group these friends and supporters are warning me about. It’s a well-funded, fanatical international terrorist group that leaves dead bodies and grieving loved ones in its wake every day that the sun rises and sets.

That’s what I’m fighting, Jeff. And there’s not a night that I put my head down without fear for my family. But with that fear, always, is the knowledge that I cannot turn back, because I cannot turn my back on my convictions.

So, no: I couldn’t possibly muster the slightest amount of “hate” for you, Jeff. That isn’t to say that I don’t often wonder why you will not even mention the threat of Islamic imperialism and Sharia law. In fact, you watched me speak—in my sometimes difficult Indian accent—at the same Act! for America event that you spoke at several months ago, and you know with what passion I spoke about this threat to our Constitution and our nation. When you got up to speak, you never once even mentioned Islam or terrorism or the threat they pose to our rights and freedoms. You did, though, make a point to say several times that an important qualification for a valid congressional candidate was that he or she be “articulate.”

Well, I guess the people of the 5th District will decide what’s more important to them: my accent, or the body bags and flag-draped coffins being flown home from Islamic lands.

Just in case you are wondering why you never hear me bashing other Republican candidates, it is because I am a true Reagan Conservative and subscribe to his 11th commandment, "Thou shall not speak evil of other Republicans". You would do well to take his advice.
 
Thank you for the advice. In my philosophy, though, truth is never evil. Integrity involves saying what you observe. In fact, Reagan himself said: “Don't be afraid to see what you see.” He also said: “Facts are stubborn things.” I believe the facts speak the truth, and the truth is not evil. I saw what I saw, and said what I saw. I’m sorry you felt it was an effort to “sink” you. I only was following my own conscience. As Reagan also said, “We must have the courage to do what we know is morally right.”

You may not like the regulations allowed by the FEC, but these very regulations have allowed us to be in the position we are in to defeat Cooper in the Fall. That was their purpose and it is working.
 
I don’t mind the regulations at all, and it’s your moral and ethical choice what you decide to pay yourself in salary. 

This information came to light because we filed our FEC report in a timely manner and disclosed everything.  Where is your report?
 
Mine is late, Jeff, as a result of my auto accident. My finance manager is working pro bono, so it takes us extra time to get it together. I’m happy to tell you what you’ll find in it, though. I have raised a total of exactly $28,182.16 in contributions. (That’s just a little bit more than what your press release says you have paid yourself in salary from your contributions.) I have added about $7,000.00 from my family savings to fund my campaign.

Finally, there are Reagan Republicans out there who have called me for the past three days to confirm this information and have been pleased to hear my answers to the issue on the table.  These are the people who can be trusted to get this seat won in the Fall.
